Weekend

Finally, we had a pretty relaxing weekend. We were in need of some sleep and recovery for my little guy. These ear infections are pretty stubborn. He is still not a 100% and is going on day 7 of amoxiccillon (sp?).

Friday night my girlfriend from LA came over. I don't see her frequently and we used to be great wine drinking buddies, but since we are both knocked up, I got us a coconut pie to share. It was delish! Saturday my folks came over. We saw Grandma Jo, a couple aunties and my mom & I got to hang out at Target while my dad drove around with the napping kid. It was nice to shop without him for a change. Saturday night was cold out so we stayed in and had the Grinch on and Wizard of Oz while we all played and stayed cozy inside.

Today even with the time change my little guy slept in until 8:30. He also napped for over 2 hours and I did for about an hour. We really needed some rest.

Next weekend we are back to baby showers and birthday parties. Also, I think I need to start Christmas shopping...

Baby Numero Dos

I haven't blogged in a long time! Too long. Remember how in my last post I said something like "too much life was happening". Well, I guess I meant it literally. Life WAS happening. A little itty bitty life was starting and we had no idea...

It turns out Sessums baby #2 is due May 16th. I went in on Monday and they confirmed the heartbeat and said things look good. We were in total shock at first. It has started to settle in and we're pretty excited now.

I feel kinda pukey, but I never actually puke. Once again, I weirdly crave sausage. Totally gross. When I am not pregnant sausage grosses me out. It's straight mystery meat. But, last and now this time, when I am pregnant all I want is a McDonalds Sausage McMuffin! McYum.

I'm really thirsty too. I don't know what that is about. I'm hoping I don't gain 8 million pounds like last time. I'm sure my love for sausage isn't going to help in that department.

Next doctors appointment is in 3 weeks. I'll keep you posted! :)

Random as usual

I haven't blogged in a long time. Right now it seems like there is too much life happening and this little ole blog can't keep up! Here are a few pics from the last weeks... We had the 7th Annual Rock-A-Thon (John played the drums with the Tornadoes and did awesome), Little J started school, we got a new dog, a new elliptical, going to the river this weekend, baby has a little cold, a couple weeks ago I thought I was dying (never google 'left arm sore/numb'), fun shopping dates, Chuck-E-Cheese for the 1st time (ghetto, but kids loved it!), I reading The Help (like it so far), all sorts of stuff has been going on around here.

Quotes

Quotes from Pinterest that I'm loving right now. I really love that website. Let me know if you need an invite. I must warn you - it is a major time suckage site. It's a good site to go to when your house is clean, the laundry is done, the babies are asleep and you have time to kill. AHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Like that EVER happens?!!!

18 months

Dear John Walker,

Today you are 18 months old. In just a blink you went from newborn to full throttle toddler. You have an infectious giggle and you even have a fake laugh already. You make every day better. You wake up happy in the mornings. Saying hello to your dad and I. Saying hello to your toys. You love the outdoors and working with tools. Every day you come inside, you are dirty. Dirt and grease and who knows what all over. You are such a little boy. You love trucks and airplanes and playing the drums. You love dancing and singing and water. You LOVE water.

You are learning new words all the time. You give us big hugs and sweet kisses. You grab our fingers a lead us where you want us.

Next week you start preschool a few days a week. While this is bittersweet for me, I know it is coming along at a perfect time. You are so smart and ready to learn new things. Ready to play with other kids your age.

I know I have said this before, but this is my new favorite age.

Our life is simply better because you are in it.

We love you,
Mama & Dada

Update!

Oh the randomness… So much going on. I know I'm forgetting some stuff, but here are a few things.

  • Found a mystery note in the ladies room at work. It was in the seat covers. It was like 3 back and the box was not tampered with. See here:

Ok weird, right? Luckily I work somewhere that you can find someone who can read, speak, write code to any language. So… we find out that this is traditional Chinese and it is explaining how horrible the prison conditions are and that they are forced to eat spoiled food. WHAT!?!? Now, I’m concerned. Everyone we asked said that there isn’t a location on it. We have some suspicions so we are getting a 3rd opinion. I’ll keep you posted.

  • The baby starts school in 3 weeks. AGHAAGHAGHAHG!! He will go 3 days a week starting August 29th. I’m not gonna lie – I’m a nervous wreck.

  • We need a new bed. It has hit an all time low. We wake up every single morning hurting. It is miserable. Any suggestions on a good bed?

  • John has wanted to become friends with a hawk forever. Yes, you read that right. My husband is like Ace Ventura. He installed a “Hawk House”. He went to a bird auction and got pigeons for hawks to eat. He built a pigeon coop for them to live. This has been going on for a long time. Finally, last Friday he made friends with a hawk. He is so happy.

(Yes, he of course let it go after the photo sesh).

  • I have been reading about how wonderful coconut oil is lately. I got some earlier this week and so far, so good. The guy at Clarks (our local health food storel) told me how great it was and that he has been eating some everyday for a long time. He looked about 45. He was 60. You can eat it, rub it on your skin, it’s pretty great. I’ve been making John eat some with me every day. He's a good sport.

  • While at Clark’s I got some Kumbucha. It's... interesting.

  • Last week I thought the baby had a ear infection. He woke up screaming and pulling both ears all night. I call the Ped first thing in the morning. We get in. No ear infection, he is getting molars. They were “erupting” she said. One was even bleeding. Poor dude. Since we were there, we ended up giving him his 4th vaccine of the Dtap & HIB. He should be all set for school now. She had him stand on the big boy scale. THE BIG BOY scale. Can you believe that? My little (29.6lbs) 17 month old on the big boy scale????

  • We also went to San Diego for the weekend... Had a great time.

I know I'm forgetting a lot of other stuff. We have had playdates, concerts, friends over and the baby is growing up at an alarming rate. His vocabulary is growing all the time, he has molars now and a full on mullet. :) Oh, and Lando ran away again....

Weekend!

Hi! I'm sneaking in a post this morning. Everyone woke up at 6:30 this morning and when I say everyone, I mean you-know-who woke everyone up at 6:30. Anyway, oh course it is 8:30 now and those two are back asleep and I am still awake. Sheesh. I have a million things to do, but decided to play on the internet. Brilliant.

Today we are hosting my MIL's bday party. So I need to clean the house, pick up rice from the Mexican market and make 2 different batches of enchiladas! Well, actually one is made already, I just need to heat it up. I'm making traditional ground beef red enchiladas today, but I made Martha Stewart's chicken in creamy green sauce enchiladas last night. They are fabulous and everyone will think you're a great cook if you make them.

Yesterday was my Grandma's 95th bday party. Can you believe that?! My grandma could barely see as it was, but my mom told me she had a mini stroke last weekend and now has lost all her vision. That just breaks my heart. She was able to feel baby J's leg and could tell how big he was getting. I really hope she is able to get some of her vision back.

Friday we went to movie in the park night with some friends. Everyone could tell I was the newest mom because I agreed to let the kids get inflatable hammers... :)

I'm going to **try* and fit in a trip to Sports Chalet today because I decided my heels hurt so much because I need new workout shoes. I am jumping up and down on stone and my shoes are like 5 years old.

Alright, I'm outta here..... Oh HAPPY BDAY MANDY! (Today is my best friends bday. We have been best friends since we were 9 and now live just a handful of blocks away) :)

Big boy bed?!?!

Seriously, are we traveling at warp speed? I swear I just gave birth to this beautiful boy and now… Now, he has moved into a toddler bed?!?! What the heck. Maybe you think 17 months is too young, but we had no choice (ps – today is his 17 month bday). He would have a bottle and we would read a book in my bed, snuggle and then once he was asleep I would do the transfer to the crib. (Side note – I know I should have just put him in the crib awake, but truthfully I liked this snuggle time just as much). Well, he would always wake up in the middle of the night and be livid that he was in his crib. Sometimes if he fussed a little we could let it go. But, if he got all crazy mad I’d have to grab him because he can climb out. Now I have only caught him with his leg over the railing, but my fear would be he pulls up on the side and falls on his head (AKA NECK!!). My pediatrician has been putting this fear into my head since he was like 10 months! She said the second you think they can climb out – change it.

SO.. you see, we had no choice.

Last night John was able to figure out how to convert his crib because (surprise, surprise) I lost the instructions. It was like Christmas Super Party Time when the bed was done! J loved it! He ran back and forth, hoping on and off his bed, squealing with delight! It wasn’t cute at all. ;)

Bedtime rolled around, we read two books, had a bottle, laid next to the bed and he was asleep. This is probably a total fluke, in fact he was probably pooped from all the running around in excitement, but it still went pretty well. He woke up a couple of times, but I would definitley call it a success. The best part was at 6:30 (ok 6:30 isn’t the best part) he came tearing out of his room yelling “MA! MOM! MA!”.

I pulled him up in our bed and he snoozed another hour.

I swear I’m going to blink & he is going to be 5, then 10, then AHHHH!!! It’s all too fast.

Birthday Bonanza and a little cold…

So, last Friday was my berf-day! I had planned on working a half day, but our little bambino ended up catching John’s cold and was pretty miserable on Friday, so I stayed home all day with him. He is such a good kid. His nose was running all day and you could tell he was miserable, but he still had a smile on his face. We obviously didn’t do anything Friday because of his cold.

Saturday one of my best friends came from LA. We were worried about the traffic b/c of “CArmageddon” but that ended up being a total joke. She hit no traffic! WIN. My dad came up to hang with the little guy, so HB & I went to lunch and got our nails done. That evening we went out to Thai food with some close friends & family. Then we went to a total dive bar for drinks (Taylors AKA Trailers). Unfortunately, my MIL caught the baby’s cold, but she still said she would take him for the night. So, after dinner she went home with him.

Taylors was a lot of fun and we left in the nick of time b/c I had just had enough beers to sign me & my best girlfriends up for karaoke (sp?). Guess what song I chose for us?? Bohemian Rhapsody. So glad, we left before we got called!!

We got home and played Dance 2 for Wii. Serious competition. It was so fun, but after dinner, Taylors, drinks, dancing and sweating from dancing… I was done. Mandy (my other bestie) had already left, so I pulled a typical Hil and went to bed before everyone else. I was smart enough to chug a bunch of water before bed. Probably one of my first times ever remembering to do that. I think it was all the dancing.

Woke up and felt good. WHEW! No birthday hangover. Picked up my munchkin and John, the baby and I had a nice relaxing fun Sunday.

Oh, and I was totally spoiled on my bday. I got pretty tops, cool make-up, the most awesome iPhone holder & case ever, wine glass & bottle holders, cool socks, tons of rings, gift cards and last, but not least… a .38 special called Pinklady.

That’s right – don’t mess with me.

Oh, and I woke on Monday with a sore throat. NEAT!
