Rock-a-thon

Yesterday was the sixth annual Jack Sessums Rock-a-thon. The guys have been practicing for months and sounded great last night. We had about 10 people staying here all weekend. I love having a packed house. John & most of the guys got to the Legion about 3:00. Heather, the baby & I got there about 6:00. John & the guys went on at 7:00 and they had everyone dancing. After them an Elvis impersonator came on. So, basically they opened for Elvis. ;)

It was a lot for LJ. I got him earmuffs so the loud music wouldn't do any permanent damage. He didn't mind the earmuffs at all. I think it was all the people, dark place, loud music and all the different people wanting, or I should say trying to hold him. He really wanted only me, John, Nana, Papa or Grandy. Everyone came back to our house after for the 'after party'.

We have the greatest friends & family. Peeps came out from everywhere to remember John's dad and listen to some good ol' rock-n-roll!

Oh and did I mention the my husband killed it on the drums!

Here are some pics.

Something that made me laugh today

"Let's eat Grandpa!"

"Let's eat, Grandpa!"

Commas - they save lives.

Thankful

Sometimes I want to blog, but I can't think of a topic or I get about a paragraph done of a few topics. SO, on these days I decided I'll just write something I'm thankful for.

Today I am thankful for Moms. First, my mom who drives from San Diego EVERY week to help watch the Munch. And then, my MIL who watches him the second half of the week. They both do SO much to help us. I can't even imagine what we would do without them. We love mamas in this house.

6 months old

Wow. Our baby is 6 months old today. I can't believe it. Time is flying by. I hope it slows down. Our little guy has his official 6 month appointment on Monday, but I know he is probably still in the 95% for height and maybe weight too. Considering he was 27 inches long at his 4 month appointment. I'm guessing he is 28 inches long and he weighs almost 20 pounds. He got his first tooth this week too. It is one of the bottom center ones. I'm pretty sure the tooth next to it is coming in also.
I guess I should type what he is up too, so I can remember in the future... Lets see, he is rolling in both directions, grabbing things, "talking" all the time, smiling all the time, not sitting up yet and not crawling yet, but kicking his legs like a crazy man (or a drummer as John says). He has sucked on bananas, watermelon & nectarines through his mesh bag. He has ate sweet potatoes, peas, applesauce (the funniest so far) and rice cereal. Boob is still his favorite.
Oh sleeping. I should probably write about sleeping... Well, I nurse him to sleep. I'm sure this is bad, but I work full time. It is all about survival. Plus, everyone eventually learns how to fall asleep. I'm sure he will too. Our only problem is the crib. Once he falls asleep, I move him to the crib like one of those people who removes bombs. Nobody breathe. I lay him down ever so gently and walk away very quietly. And then. And then 5 to 45 minutes later he is whimpering. I don't go in right away. I can handle whimpering. But, it always turns to serious crying & kicking.. So, I usually grab him and he sleeps with us. I know we need to remedy this soon. I just don't know how right now. Anyway, this is a post about my beautiful 6 month old, not my inability to keep the baby in the crib!
So, I am excited for the next 6 months. Halloween, crawling, first words, Christmas, ((maybe not pumping eventually)), BUT... I hope they take there time. We don't want our beautiful baby boy growing up too fast.

Pedicures....

So, while I was getting a pedicure today I was thinking about writing a blog about them. Then, as I was leaving I fell into the the pedicure tub and decided that falling definitely sealed the deal.

First, I decided I hate pedicures. It's sad, I know. I LOVE the end result, I love going with friends, but I hate how long they take and I hate the process. It takes too long, I get antsy, I can't really relax. But, the worst is the scrubbing and massaging... Ugh, I am just too ticklish. I always politely warn them that I am really ticklish. They usually just smile, but then they tickle me anyway and I can't control it. My leg kicks away or my toes curl up, and now they are just annoyed with me...

And last, today as I was leaving I didn't realize the side arm raised so I tried to hurdle the tub with my wallet, phone & empty Starbucks in hand. And then CRASH! I fell into the empty tub. And the stupid Starbucks cup had to make a loud crunching sound as my ice flew everywhere. Just loud enough so everyone in Totally Nails would totally look over at me.

It was awesome. It's probably karma b/c I laughed so hard yesterday when Mandy told me she fell on her bike & was on the ground still stuck to her pedals (I'm laughing again just thinking about it). Alright thats all I got.

P.S. I got tiger stripes on my toes. They look totally ghetto fabulous.

Just like to say that parenthood is the most wonderful & terrifying thing in the world.

A few reasons why I love my Hubs

1. He never cares what we eat for dinner. Sometimes I want to cook something great, sometimes we just have bagels or a bowl of cereal. And sometimes I don't want to cook anything & he is always fine with that too. He will whip up his famous breakfast for dinner or his special noodles (AKA ramen).

2. He has a core group of good guy friends. I love this b/c I also have a core group of good girlfriends. So he understands what being a good, loyal friend is about.

3. He is hilarious. Yes, sometimes we make fun of people, but they are strangers and it isn't to their face (yikes, is that worse?!). Trust me, it is funny.

4. I am a morning person (he is a night owl) and at night I am a GROUCH. He knows this and is always sweet about it. He is quiet and whispers to me things like "babe, are you hungry? Want some noods?" (Yes, I am usually asleep when he asks me this, but it's the thought that counts.

5. He is handy. A guys guy. He can fix, install, repair anything.

6. He isn't a club guy. Sure, my hubs likes his beer, but he does not like clubs or dress codes or anything that is a "scene". He would much rather drink some beers around a fire pit or pool table then go out and stand amongst strangers listening to crap music.

7. He is sweet to me. He worries about me if I don't answer the phone. He doesn't like me to drive to certain areas. He doesn't want me to ever stay the night alone if he can't be here. He protects me.

8. He is a good dad. Watching him with baby J melts my heart.
9. He is generous. He will always help people out. I love that about him.

10. He is cute. =)

Munch is Munching

So, baby J has tried watermelon & sweet potatoes so far. The watermelon we give to him in one of those net things and he loves it. I'm not so sure about the sweet potatoes. By the way, are sweet potatoes - yams? Are they the same? I made the baby food myself, but when I bought the potatoes they were called "organic garnets." Hmm... well my mom said I bought the right ones. Anyways, he lunges for the spoon, almost gags himself he wants it so bad, and then once he has some in his mouth it is almost like he is being electrocuted. Sorta. I just can't tell if he likes them or not. We have tried them for about 4 nights now. He usually will take about 5 bites. And 5 bites gets EVERYWHERE, his forehead, his hair, up his nose, everywhere. I think we will do peas next.
