"What should I call him?"

I have been asked this a number of times. My husband is a IV (fourth). There was no question that if we had a son, he would be John Walker V. You just don’t break up tradition, history like that. Plus, I love the name John Walker. It’s classic. It’s old fashion. It seems a little cowboy. It fits are style and family. Now here comes the tricky part. I live with two people named John. So now my son has about a bajillion (yeah, that’s a real number) nicknames. Here are a few:

Baby J

John John

John Boy

Pee Wee

Peanut

Number 5

Johnny 5

Cinco

Munchkin

Nugget

Little J

Poor kid. Do you think this will become an issue for him?? Probably just the Pee Wee nickname, huh? ;)

Weekend

Our weekend was pretty amazing. We didn't do anything crazy, but it was just perfect.

Friday night after the baby went down, I had a couple Trader Jose Lights with the boys and then watched Black Swan. (Trader Jose's are Trader Joe's version of Coronas and Black Swan was weird. I think I'm still deciding about it... I think?)

Saturday we went to Hobby People. John's dad used to go there all the time because he would need miniature planes, helicopters, etc.. He said his dad would always buy him a toy when they would go. Munchkin loved the hobby shop and all the planes hanging from the ceiling. We bought John a Toy Story kite. Then we went to Nick's for lunch - YUM! The weather was so perfect that we played outside all day long. Now that the baby is older it's much more fun for John to take Baby J out on the tractor or riding around in the Kabota or even hanging in the barn. Saturday night we made a big spaghetti dinner and ate with friends. The baby ate tons, loved garlic bread & then desperately needed a bath. He was so dirty from being outside all day and then topped with spaghetti! After he went down John went out in the barn for a bit and I had a glass of wine with some sea salt chocolate - so good! Oh, and I made a t-shirt necklace that I saw on this blog - http://muchomuchobuenobueno.blogspot.com/2010/05/diy-layered-necklace-thingy.html

Sunday we went to Target in the morning and then home. In between lunch and naps the baby was outside with dad so I could get stuff done inside. In the afternoon I took Baby J on a walk and then Jefff & Shannon came over with the kids. It is so cute to watch John with Slade. They are both one of the boys. Shannon, Iylla and I relaxed and watched ALL the boys play with RC cars in the dirt.

Oh and I got John a Japanese Maple for our anniversary. I'll have to take some pics of it. I hope you had a great weekend too!

Tea Please

I've been really into tea lately. Here are a couple of my faves right now... Oh, and a picture of my cool teapot.

Have a good weekend!!!!!!

I’ve been married four years now, but I have dated my husband since 1998. Thirteen years. Wowzers. So, in honor of being married a whopping 4 years. Here are my 4 tips on marriage. From me, the expert, of course. ;)

1. It is never 50/50. Things aren’t always even.

2. If something is bothering you – speak up. Otherwise, you’re bound to blow up over someone taking the last of the coffee or something just as ridiculous.

3. Date. Plan some time together. Even if it is just watching a movie together in the living room after the kid is asleep. Or making breakfast together on the weekend or going to grab a quick/non-fancy dinner. Plus, you got married because you like spending time together. Right?

4. Acknowledge when you’re being ridiculous and find the humor in it. We’ve all done it. Personally, I think laughing together is crucial. And you might as well make fun of each other - you got a lot of years together left together…
