Random Post - per usual

Hey! So, this is going to be a completely random post. First, I got a new app for my phone. It tells you which celebrity you look like. Check mine, John's and JV's out. Hilarious.

(p.s. don't mind our beautiful pics!???)

(Do you like how John got Mira Sorvino?!?!) LOL!

I've had a little bit of a rough week. Work has been slow because our major conference is going on in SD, so all the developers I support are down there. When we are slow at work, all I want to do is be with my baby. Also, I have like 4 close friends that are preggers. One of them **may** be miscarrying. This weighs heavy on my heart. I don't know if it is because I have also lost babies or because I am just more emotional since having a baby, but this gave me serious anxiety this week. I start worrying about something and it takes over. It nearly makes me sick. All I want to do is be at home, where I feel safe. I start to panic about it. It is awful. If anyone suffers from anxiety regularly, I feel for you. It is the worst feeling ever. I even googled "natural remedies for anxiety". I tried to follow the advice I found, but it was hard. Anyway, I will know more next week, but I am staying positive for her and her family.

John and the baby are sick. BOO! John swears he is not, but umm.. yeah, he is.

Tomorrow is my bday and a half day of work - whoo-hoo!!!
Here are some random pics from last week. Or maybe the last two weeks? I can't remember. :)

He is shoving his bowl in between the shutters!

John went to some metal festival & met some metal guy. :)
(I forgot what band he said he played with?!)

2 last random things..
I found good low calorie cereal =
Kashi 7 Grain Puffs - 70 calories for 1 cup!! That is unheard of in the cereal world.
Fiber 1 Honey Squares - 80 calories for 3/4 cup
and... I already forgot my last thing. nice.

Here is a vid of our madman. Don't mind the mess!

Happy 4th of July, Happy 3 Day Weekend & other ramblings... :)

Ok, so I haven't been into blogging lately. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep blogging. But, I don't want to delete my blog & then regret it. So, I'm thinking about it. I'm torn about sharing information about my kid with whoever reads this. But, realistically there are millions of blogs and I have like 6 readers?! (Did I spell realistically correct?)

AnyWHO, here are some random things that are going on with us.

1) It has been about a million degrees in Redlands.

2) I have ran or done my Shred video everyday this week, except Friday. I'm on level 2 of the Shred and I'm thinking about buying the Insanity videos, but they are pricey. Workout videos never used to work for me, but they are perfect now.

3) Tomorrow is the 4th and John & I can't wait to see how the baby reacts to the fireworks. We will probably BBQ and swim at our friends in the afternoon. In the morning I'm meeting my SIL for the annual Redlands 4th of July parade. Should be interesting..?

4) I have convinced John to try this energy smoothie with me tomorrow. It is diet red bull and frozen berries. Not an everyday smoothie type thing, but fun for a busy, fun day like tomorrow.

5) Baby J's vocabulary is sort of exploding. He says "thank you" all the time. It's pretty much the cutest thing ever. Oh, and he says "down" when he wants down and "down" when he wants up... hmm...

6) Our sleeping situation is worse. :|
The baby loves our bed. But, I'm sad to say, last night he slept in our bed and fell OFF!! He is totally fine, but that scared the BaJebus outta me. We put him in his crib and he can swing his leg over the railing. Now what?????

7) I'm pretty sure Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' is the best workout song ever. It makes me feel like Rocky. Like, I can keep running.

8) I'm loving ombre hair. Which works out pretty good since I missed my last appointment with Chief. Yes, my hairdresser is named Chief.

9) If anyone tells you Haagan Dazs ice cream blueberry crumble or berry cabernet are good - they are lying. The crumble doesn't have enough chunks and the cabernet is straight wine ice cream. I like wine & all, but this is gross.

10) I found an amazing hair tutorial on You Tube. I actually found it on Pinterest, but it led me to You Tube. It is no heat curls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYxS1ohz4Ao&feature=player_embedded

Here are some pics. Just the babes keeping cool and friends jamming.

Check out that dirty look!

Just reading in the laundry..

Sun Safe

I read a great post about sunscreen the other day & have to share. Here is the original post:

I can't believe that the majority of sunscreen on the market only protects you from burning and not from skin cancer. That is horrible. Right after I read this post I checked the babies sunscreen, which is a brand I normally trust, and it failed! So here are the main points:
  • The active ingredients need to be either Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide
  • No sunscreen is water-proof or sweat-proof
  • Use SPF 15 or 30 anything higher does more damage because of the chemicals needed to make it that high
  • Apply every 2 hours

Thought this was worth sharing!

Fathers Day 2011

I was lucky enough to celebrate half of Fathers Day weekend with my dad and the other half with my hubs. The baby and I went down to San Diego on Friday night so we could hang with my Pops on Saturday. My nephew flew in and it was great to see the 'guys' together.

My dad is simply the best. He is smart, tough, believes in hard work, believes in a healthy mind & body, believes family comes first and has always been there for me no matter what. I'm lucky to have such a great dad.

Sunday John had to work a little in the morning, but then we were able to BBQ with his brother's family and his mom. It was very casual and relaxing. Father's day is a little bitter sweet for John because while I'm sure he is so thankful and happy to celebrate his 2nd fathers day with his son, I'm sure it makes him miss his own dad a lot. John is a great dad and I'm sure that has a lot to do with the example his dad set for him.

(Here the boys are opening up his gift :))

I hope everyone had a good Dad's Day!!

Perception...

I saw this on Pinterest and I love it...

PERCEPTION

. . . Something To Think About. . .

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:

The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children.. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly..

45 minutes:

The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:

He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities.

The questions raised:

*In a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?

*Do we stop to appreciate it?

*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.

How many other things are we missing?

===========================================================

I love this for so many reasons. I like that all the children wanted to stop and listen. They are such pure little souls. It is such a reminder that beauty is everywhere. You might see it, hear it or feel it anywhere at anytime.
