Sam-I-Am

I was reading Green Eggs & Ham to Baby J and I realized 2 things about Sam-I-Am.

1) The whole book he totally peer pressures Dr. Seuss (or whoever that guy is) into trying his green eggs & ham. "do you want them in a boat, do you want them with a goat, etc.." He harrasses him the whole book. Dr. Seuss is screaming "I DO NOT like green eggs & ham Sam-I-Am!!" And yes, I did explain to the baby that this is an example of peer pressure.

2) Sam-I-Am is my best friend Heather. Whenever we go out and she orders something, a drink, food, ANYTHING, she harrassess me until I try it.

Heather: "Come on try it, please try it, come on try it, please try it, come on, pleaseee"
(this will go on until I finally say the below)

Me: "FINE, if you shut up I'll try it." :)

Sorry baby. Do you need ear plugs?

First, let me explain that in the 4th grade, everyone was allowed to “try out” for chorus. And usually everyone who tried out, made it. I mean, we were only 9 years old. How bad could we be?!?! Well… turns out, a 9 year old can be pretty bad. According to Ms. Stevens! Long story short – I didn’t make it. I was manager. It has haunted me.

So, with that said, I want to apologize to my poor baby boy who has to hear me sing to him daily. Besides being out of tune, I can’t remember normal baby songs. I usually sing to him the following:

The Golden Girls theme song – “thank you for being a friend…. And if you threw a party and invited everyone you knew, you would see the biggest gift would be from me & the card attached would say. Thank you for being a friend…”

Police, Roxanne (sorta) – “Baaaaby, you don’t have to turn on the red light. Baaaaby, you don’t have to sell your body to the night.” I sing this a lot.

I also sing a lot of 90’s rap songs, but not the whole song. Just a line here & there. But, don’t worry, I do play him GOOD music from my ipod all the time. He does not just get to hear this glorious voice of mine.

Just cute pics of my 5 month old love nugget

Landscaping

So, we are getting there! We have sprinklers and some tress now. We are working in phases, so hopefully grass is next. In a few months or maybe next year, we will plant two small citrus orchards in the front. I can't wait! I am so excited for some grass. It will help cool the house and reduce the amount of dust in here. We will be able to lay on a blanket under a tree with the baby and he can run through the sprinklers eventually. So awesome! And maybe someday I'll be able to plant a little vegetable garden AND keep it alive! Keep your fingers crossed that my brown thumb turns green! :)

Grass & trees & sprinklers, oh my!
